Who is the target group of the platform?

The education portal is the main platform for teachers, pupils and parents/legal guardians. The portal offers all schools in Austria the opportunity to access a variety of functions and applications that are useful for everyday school life through a single login.

What is the personal news digest?

All schools, regional education authorities and the Ministry of Education can publish news articles in the education portal. Depending on the school affiliation users of the education portal get an overview of all contributions relevant to them. In addition, this personal news digest can be downloaded as an RSS feed in a suitable feed reader and retrieved automatically.

Is there an Education Portal App for Smartphone or Tablet?

Yes, the education portal mobile app is available in the App Store and the Play Store.

Additionally, the portal is designed with a responsive layout, making it fully functional on smartphones and tablets when accessed through a web browser.

Can I use my Google or Microsoft Account to log in to the education portal?

For now, it is not possible to use your Google or Microsoft account to log in to the education portal.

I forgot my password, how can I reset my password?

Resetting the password depends on the login method and your user role in the education portal. The password either needs to be reset by the login provider or in the education portal.

How can I change my personal information like the email address?

User accounts in the education portal are created and maintained based on data from the school administration software. Therefore, all changes need to be made in the school administration software. Please contact your school if changes need to be made to your personal information in the user profile. You can change the email address or set a preferred email address.

How do I generate an automatic confirmation of school attendance?

Starting in the 2025/26 school year, confirmations of school attendance can be generated automatically via the education portal. Schools can configure this feature to suit their own needs.

How do I set up my account?

Open the account activation page
Enter the email address that you provided to the school
Click Send Token. An email with a token is sent to the provided email address. Please check your spam folder, if you do not receive an email.

Can I use my phone number instead of the email address for setting up the account?

It is not possible, to set up the account using your phone number.

I don't have an email address, how can I log in to the education portal?

Please use ID Austria to log in.

My child does not have an email address, how can it use the education portal?

You can set up the account for your child with your email address. Please select your child's account in step 6 of the Account set up process.

How can I change my password?

Log in to the education portal
Click your user profile on the top right
Select Preferences
Click Change password
Enter your current password
Enter your new password
Enter your new password again
Click Save changes

How do I set up my account?

The ID Austria is not necessary to log in to the education portal. However some applications and features like the official electronic signature require a higher security level. So if you do not use ID Austria to log in to the education portal, some applications and/or features might not be available.

How to assign yourself a role as Eduportal-Admin

In principle, principals are given permissions to perform all functions in the education portal and to delegate some of them to other people. In many cases, however, there will be other people at schools who help the school management to configure and set up portals and services anyway, and therefore also have a legitimate interest in performing certain administrative functions for the school management in the education portal.

The education portal has a function by means of which employees of schools can assign themselves the appropriate authorization.

How to maintain your custom affiliations

With the custom Affiliations feature, principals and authorized employees can assign any person a role at the school, provided that this person cannot be imported automatically from one of the upstream systems of the education portal. Before using this feature, please check that the person cannot be created and assigned to your school automatically and that there is no problem with the data synchronization. How to apply the official electronic signature to a document?

The official electronic signature is the digital signature on official documents like school reports. The official electronic signature shows the authority from which the document comes and ensures that the document can be verified.

What does a Single Sign On provide?

A "Single Sign On" (SSO) is a technical solution that allows users to authenticate once and access multiple applications without additional authentication input. SSO systems often use the user's main system data and enable them to log in to other systems without further input of username or password.

The educational portal automatically generates user accounts for all citizens who are involved with the school sector. Citizens can activate their own user account at any time. Depending on the configuration of each partner application, SSO may be used immediately or after explicit authorization to log in to the partner application. During registration, the application receives personal information from the educational portal based on the chosen Entity categories .

What is the purpose of offering a widget?

A crucial part of the educational portal is the so-called "Dashboard". All users receive an overview of their school affiliations and consequently a "Widget area". Each application for which the respective person has permission to use can offer a widget on the educational portal. This increases the visibility of the application, users find out at a glance where new information or events have taken place, and users can click directly from the widget into the application with one click.

Which interfaces does the education portal offer?

The education portal provides different interfaces, so that applications can receive data from the education portal or send data to the education portal. It is important to note that not all interfaces are available for every application. In the context of the EdTEch partnership agreement , EdTech partners must disclose the purposes of data processing and, if necessary, receive access to individual interfaces.
